About The Author
Malcolm White was born in Lowestoft at a former farm cottage in Kirkley Street and having lived all his life in the town is well versed in the changes that have taken place locally. He has always taken a great interest in all aspects of local history including the heritage and happenings of the maritime and transport scene.
Witnessing many changes to the local area and the decline and disappearance of several traditional industries including fishing, bus and coach building, canning, shoe making, railway engineering, electronics and shipbuilding, Malcolm set about producing this very successful comprehensive series of books that record many aspects of East Anglian coastal life and the rapidly changing local area. All twenty books in the series, some of which have been officially recognised as best sellers, have been written and published in Lowestoft as a non profit making venture. All have been printed in Suffolk making this series truly local.
Substantial donations to local charities and other good causes have been made from the proceeds of book sales. In addition to being a member of many local maritime, historical and transport societies, Malcolm was the honorary secretary of a local heritage and research group for many years and is now a regular contributor to a much respected transport magazine.
